OMG, this has got to be one of the most fun-filled weddings we have ever photographed. The bride was in great form: very relaxed and looking radiant while her gal pals did her hair and makeup. Then Mom shows up and the funny mother/daughter banter began. That was just the beginning of Brook & Susie’s fabulous wedding at The Finest, a fine resort at Playa Mujeres north of Cancun.

Brook, who was reared in Eritrea and lived in Zimbabwe before coming to the United States, sports a million-dollar smile that lights up a room and was undoubtedly partly responsible for stealing Susie’s heart. He and Michael shared stories about Zimbabwe (Michael had worked there for National Geographic in 2001), recalling how it was a wonderful country before Mr. Mugabe screwed it up. The rest of the getting ready time was filled with jokes from his buddies, but the best moment was when one donned a wooden bow tie. Who knew you could get one of those?

Some of the ladies came prepared for the powerful Caribbean sun, sporting some very cool sun bonnets and making great use of parasols with bright colors.

With guests from all over the world, including South Korea, Australia, Ukraine and Canada, this was truly an international wedding with some of Susie’s relatives from South Korea wearing traditional dresses called chima, which are part of HanBok. Of course, there were lots of kids and sometimes a kid just needs to play in the sand – no problem, since there is plenty at the beach!

The dance floor and lighting set up by the resort staff were one of the nicest we have seen.

Susie’s gorgeous dress was designed by Liancarlo and Brook’s handsome suit was tailored by Dash’s of Old Town.

We are so honored to have spent such a special day with such a special couple and we are happy to share the photos with you now.
