Kansas City Wedding | Jim & Holly
We loved photographing Jim & Holly’s wedding in Kansas City. It was special to us since we had photographed her sister’s wedding last fall in Charleston, SC. (only three more sisters to go Dad!) Jim was on leave from the Navy and looked very sharp in his dress whites. Holly was surrounded by her four sisters and college friends during the getting ready stages, first at a spa in the Country Club Plaza in KC, then at her parents home.
The beautiful wedding ceremony was at the church where Holly attended as a young girl, Village Presbyterian in Overland Park. Friends and family gathered for the happy occasion.
Immediately after the ceremony, it was time for a Kansas City wedding tradition, cruising around town in the Kansas City Trolley with the wedding party and some close friends. There might have been adult beverages on board! There was definitely lots of singing and photos at different stops along the way.
The reception was held at the historic Baltimore Club in downtown Kansas City. Soaring windows, a dance floor surrounded by a second floor balcony and great food. We’ll never forget one of the funniest maid of honor speeches we’ve ever heard, delivered by Holly’s sister Sara. She had everyone in stitches when told about how she and Holly “played weddings” as little girls and Holly always got to be the bride. “So, Jim, this not Holly’s first rodeo. She’s actually been married thirty eight times before!”, Sarah related.
Jim and Holly joined us for a wonderful photo session around some of Kansas City’s famous landmarks the day after the wedding. The high points of our city tour that ended at sunset were the stately Nelson Atkins Museum, the fountain near the old Union Station. For us, we saved the best for last with a stop at the very cool Kaufman Center for the Performing Arts. Thank you Jim & Holly for trusting us to capture your wedding weekend.
