Ryan and Kristen were graced by a bright and sunny day on one of our favorite places in Mexico, Isla Mujeres. This Seattle couple brought friends and families from both coasts and set up house at the very cool Casa de las Cupulas on the coast south of town. Complete with a pool and swim-up bar, cool architecture, and ocean views, some people probably never leave. But, that would be a mistake, because they would miss one of the few unspoiled places in the Riviera Maya.

Kristen had the assistance of her mom and her bridesmaids, getting her beautiful lace dress to fit perfectly. After a few tugs, a bit of tape, a snip with the Swiss Army knife and a glass of sparkling wine or two (chased by Red Bull??), the dress and bride were ready for a first look.

We are not usually in favor of ‘first looks”, preferring to capture the groom’s emotions and reaction when he sees his bride coming down the aisle. However, sometimes circumstances or locations call for a first look and make it a sensible thing to do.

Ryan was stunned at the sight of his bride and brushed by the tears as he whispered “you look so beautiful.”

Groomsmen, bridesmaids, and photographers joined by soon-to-be-newlyweds in a caravan of taxis for some downtown photos. After a quick tour through town for photos with distinctive Yucatcan architecture as backdrops, we arrived at one of Isla’s best wedding venues, Zama Beach Club. Zama has everything: a lovely beach framed by tropical foliage, a great pier, a blinding white sandy beach, great food and great service. Add all of those features to the fantastic¬†style and planning by Tiffany, Alex and Jenna from Sunhorse Weddings¬†and you are going to have a memorable wedding.

Just look at the gorgeous dress and the smiling faces and you can see that it was the perfect day. We were honored to have been part of it.
