Creede Colorado Wedding | Joe & Jessie
The fall colors in Creede, Colorado, an historic former silver mining town in Southwestern Colorado, are usually spectacular around the third week of September. The week of Joe and Jessie’s wedding was not an exception. The fall colors provided a perfect backdrop for the rustic, wedding full of cute DIY! A couple of days before the ceremony, Joe and Zach (Jessie’s brother) went to a favorite camping spot a few miles out of town. They cleared a small area for chairs, carefully bent some small aspen trees to make an arbor and started hanging decorations from the limbs which were loaded with golden leaves.
So, where’s a gal supposed to get ready for her wedding in a quiet mountain meadow? Why, in a big canvas hunting tent, of course. It was a town affair since Jessie was reared in this sparsley populated corner of Colorado. And it was a bittersweet affair since her father had died within the last year. So, proceeded by a wagon with J & J’s son, nephew and niece, Jessie was radiant as she was escorted down the aisle by her brother and grandfather. When the Rev. Jeff (Tired Kitty) Henderson referred to the loss of father/husband and friend-to-all, Mark, there were very few dry eyes.
After the charming ceremony, we cruised some of the backroads for a few more photos of the happy couple before heading off to another first for us, a reception in a cave!
There were a lot of firsts for Michael and I on this one. First time shooting getting ready photos in a hunting tent, first time having a living arch of aspen trees, and first time photographing the first dance in a cave! First times are nice but we always love seeing happy couples share their joy. Thank you Jessie and Joe for including us in your special day. We hope these memories keep you warm during those Creede winters!
