Although Maggie and Rich held their destination wedding at the popular all-inclusive resort, Azul Sensatori, they chose to make it a DIY (do-it-yourself) wedding. Maggie designed many of the gifts, party favors, and decorations for the ceremony site and the reception. Many brides coming from the U.S. and Canada for their Riviera Maya Destination Wedding have discovered that some of the resort charges can really add up. Not only do they get exactly what they want when they do a DIY wedding and reception, they usually save some money.
The weather was a little uncooperative (wet), so they chose two indoor venues so they would not have to stress about the weather. Once that decision was made, it was full-speed ahead with two Latin families (Italian and Colombian) who knew how to celebrate with style.
Maggie made sure Rich had a few special touches from her (think embroidered boxer briefs), including a gold pocket watch engraved with the words, “Corinthians 13:7” and “See you at five on the 7th” and “Te amo M” (“I love you” for you non-Spanish speaking readers).
Maggie was gorgeous in her dress and Badgley Mischka heels. Love that color!! We could describe it, but Maggie describes it much better:
“My dress… it was THE ONE to marry my One 😉 it was that one that I never pictured wearing but as soon as I put it on, it made me gasp, it made me feel like the ultimate woman for my man, and it even made me cry like I swore I wouldn’t – I had even mocked that crying ONLY happens in movies! The dress design was from the Ysa Makino Couture line. All throughout the dress it consisted exquisite hand embroidery and Swarovski crystals that made it sparkle with every turn!”
Rich was waiting as she glided down the aisle on her father, Armando’s, arm past the signs that she had placed by each row. Before the ceremony, her father told us in Spanish, “This is the wedding of my little girl, you’re going to take beautiful pictures – no” It wasn’t a question.
We love working at Azul Sensatori, because it seems we always find some place new to make creative photos. However, Maggie definitely steered us to the pool room, since they are both passionate about the game. How can Rich concentrate on that shot with that beautiful woman distracting him?? No worries, the man has nerves of steel, but a definite soft spot for our raven-haired beauty!
Once more, she describes her day the best (with a few tips for you future brides):
