Bill and Laura chose one of the nicest resorts in the Playa del Carmen area for their destination wedding, Azul Fives. There are so many things to love about this Karisma Resort: nice grounds, beautiful beach, spacious and classy rooms, and a great location right on the Caribbean Sea.

The bride and groom each had their own rooms and entourages for getting ready. Laura’s was filled with family and friends and make-up artists from Melissa’s capable MVP team. The guys, as is usual, hung around, nibbled on snacks, had a few drinks and talked football, business and politics. The couple set their timing so they could exchange simultaneous gifts, with Bill opening up a package that contained a book of recipes for the Big Green Egg barbeque (which will be delivered after they return home from their honeymoon). Laura received a beautiful trinity band and they both wrote lovely, endearing notes to each other.

Bill slipped on his Baylor University cuff links and graduation ring, and sported a classic Rolex given to him by his step-father. Laura’s father then showed up with a special linen handkerchief from Ireland which Bill wore as a pocket square.

After a first look and some family photos, it was time for the ceremony on the beach with close friend (I don’t need a microphone) George officiating. We had plenty of time for photos on the beach and on the pier, before making the grand entrance to the reception on the SkyDeck lounge. After first dances, dinner and cake cutting (note: it was the little girls who couldn’t keep their fingers out of the cake, NOT the little boys), and bouquet and garter tosses, this group was ready to dance, with hardly anyone sitting down the rest of the evening.

Before we knew it, it was time for an exit under a gauntlet of lit-up maracas. In other words, a perfect end to a perfect day. #fiestafloyd
