Tulum Wedding Photographer | Tulum Wedding | Nueva Vida Wedding |

This was our first wedding at Nueva Vida de Ramiro in Tulum, but we hope it won’t be the last. What a cool place for a wedding! Private houses, casitas, and bungalows are set in the jungle/beach foliage and palm trees, just steps from the beach. They were all raised on stilts and open the cool ocean breezes. Of course, the beach, like all of Tulum, was stellar.

Sandy paths connected the casitas where John and Emily’s friends and family had come for an intimate wedding on the beach – Mayan-style. They took several elements from a traditional Mayan wedding and made them their own. The layout of the small boutique hotel made the locale feel very private and intimate, which is certainly one of the hallmarks of a Tulum wedding.

The friends and family got into the spirit and helped arrange a circle in the sand that would be the location for the ceremony.

Emily made her own wedding jewelry and her dress was classy and elegant. Emily’s make up and hair were done by the fantastic, talented Esperanza Avila from Simple Bella, and, as usual, she¬†worked her magic.

After the ceremony in their circle in the sand, we made photos on the beach and then strolled north to Ahau Tulum for a wonderful meal with local fish, massive Campeche shrimp, and cold generous beverages. The small restaurant was perfect for the small, intimate group that joined Emily and John to celebrate their wedding.

For dessert, we headed back to the ocean’s edge to take advantage of the night sky with no moon. We rarely see this when we are shooting at the larger resorts in Playa del Carmen or Cancun, so we came prepared to take advantage of the lack of light pollution. We loved the starry, starry night!
