New Mexico Wedding Photographer
Welcome to M & J Photography!
M and J Photography is Michael and Jennifer Lewis, two award-winning photographers in love with photography and with each other. We photograph destination weddings anywhere a bride and groom want to get married. But we split our time between our two homes in Mexico and New Mexico.
From July through October, we live in the Albuquerque/Santa Fe area, then we live and work in the Riviera Maya of Mexico from November through June.
We shoot all of our weddings together, so you always receive two top photographers to cover your day. If you are not able to meet with us in Mexico or New Mexico before your wedding, we recommend doing a Skype consultation to answer your questions, help with your planning and get to know you a little better.
There are few nicer places in the world than New Mexico in the spring, summer and fall, the best seasons for a New Mexico destination wedding. The different landcapes, the organic architecture and the amazing light all make the “Land of Enchantment” a great place for a wedding.
Not only does the mountain, valley and river landscape create a beautiful setting for a New Mexico destination wedding, but the signature adobe architecture createa a backdrop that is the perfect palate for bride and groom photos. The shapes, textures and shadows of an adobe church, inn or hacienda are among our favorite places to photograph couples.
Primarily because of our many years spent living in Southern Colorado and Northern New Mexico, we are partial to the Northern part of the state, where we start living for part of the year in 2013. The northern part of the state is ideal for lovers of the outdoors. Outdoor activities include hiking, cycling, birdwatching, rock climbing, and river rafting. Art lovers have an endless choice of galleries and museums.
The local food movement is strong and diverse, featuring small farms and ranches throughout the state which produce an amazing array of produce, meats, cheeses and wines.
Native American cultures have been a rich part of New Mexican heritage for hundreds of years. Visits to Chaco Canyon, Taos Pueblo, Acoma Pueblo (Sky City) are unforgettable experiences. Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge near Socorro attracts tens of thousands of sandhill cranes and snow geese every year. The birds migrate to the refuge for the winter when it becomes a bird watcher’s paradise.
Albuquerque is hip and urban with tons of dining choices. Santa Fe is the state’s cultural mecca and Taos has a little bit of both, but is smaller and more intimate.
Choose the one that fits your personality. Your New Mexico wedding photographer will be happy to help.
