San Cristóbal Wedding Photographer – M&J Photography
M&J thanks you for stopping by our page as you look for your San Cristóbal wedding photographer.
M and J Photography is Michael and Jennifer Lewis, two award-winning photographers in love with photography and with each other. We photograph destination weddings anywhere a bride and groom want to get married. But we split our time between our two homes in Mexico and New Mexico.
We live and work in the Riviera Maya of Mexico from November through May. From June through October, we live and work in the Albuquerque/Santa Fe area.
Why San Cristóbal?
San Cristóbal de las Casas in Chiapas is one of Mexico’s unique locations for a destination wedding. For decades, San Cristóbal has been a melting pot of indigenous people, Mexicans and people from around the world. The colonial buildings, mountains and cobblestoned streets create a small town feel in a city that buzzes with excitement and sophistication.
We love to visit the amazing local markets, stop in galleries with artists from Mexico and abroad, and visit the regular farmers markets which are becoming more popular. Serious foodies can choose from French bakeries (we love the croissants at El Horno Mágico just off of the zocalo), Italian pizzas and trattorias, Argentine wine bars, new age restaurants and juice bars, artisan chocolate shops, and, of course, good Mexican restaurants. Chiapas is justifiably famous for high altitude, shade produced coffees and there are no shortage of interesting coffee shops and cafes for reading and relaxing an afternoon away. Most places feature live music at night. Read about our trip reports to San Cristóbal and Chiapas here.
Where to get Married in San Cristóbal?
Boutique hotels in former colonial homes and former hacienda properties are the best choices for a wedding in San Cristóbal. Here are a few that might interest you.
When to get Married in San Cristóbal?
We recommend late winter for a wedding in San Cristóbal. While we love San Cristóbal, the weather is challenging. The town sits at 7,000′ surrounded by mountains. Summer is cool and wet, fall is cooler and wetter. Our best experience with weather has been from February through April.
